Chicago High Schools Ranked Best in Illinois by U.S. News and World Report

Seven of the ten best high schools in Illinois are located in the city of Chicago, according to U.S. News and World Report.

CHICAGO, IL - The top four high schools in Illinois are all in Chicago.

That’s according to the most recent rankings from U.S. News and World Report, which released its 2016 list Monday night.

The No. 1 high school in the state is Northside College Prep, ranked 39th in the United States, followed closely by Walter Payton College Prep, ranked 41st in the country. Nine Chicago high schools rank in the top 25 for Illinois.

Young Magnet High School came in third in the state and Jones College Prep High School was fourth.

"The U.S. News rankings include data on more than 21,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia," states U.S. News & World Report. "Schools were awarded gold, silver or bronze medals based on their performance on state assessments, their graduation rates and how well they prepare students for college."

The report includes information about curriculum, test scores and student demographics. See where your school ranked on the list.

Also in the top ten statewide from Chicago was Lane Technical High School, Phoenix Military Academy High School and Lindblom Math and Science Acad High School.
