Chicago In Top 20 'Best Places For Halloween' List: WalletHub

CHICAGO, IL — Halloween is nearly a week away and if you're still deciding where to trick-or-treat or spend some spooky time, personal-finance website WalletHub released its 2018's Best Places for Halloween report Wednesday, which includes Chicago. The report is aimed at helping Americans decide where to spend Halloween without "frightening" their bank accounts, as WalletHub reports this year's spending on all things spooky is projected to reach over $9 billion.

Chicago was ranked 7th for 2018’s Best Places for Halloween, as WalletHub compared the 100 largest U.S. cities across 20 key metrics. They range from candy and chocolate stores per capita to average price per Halloween party ticket to share of potential trick-or-treat stops.

The Windy City came in at number 22 for "Trick-or-Treater Friendliness," number 7 for "Halloween Fun," and 40 for "Halloween Weather." Overall score? 60.61, according to WalletHub.

When it comes to handing over the cash for some frightening fun, 76 percent of people will spend $50 or less this Halloween.
