Cooler Temps, Rain and Thunderstorms: Week Ahead Weather
A look at this week's forecast for the Chicago area.

Temps tipped into the 70s Sunday for the Chicago area but the rest of this week should be much cooler.
Temperatures in the 50s are in the forecast throughout the week while some portions of the Chicago area may reach highs in the lower 60s through Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
There is a chance for showers Tuesday night and a chance of thunderstorms after midnight. Showers and thunderstorms are again in the forecast Wednesday afternoon with some rain also expected on Friday.

- Sunday night: Mostly clear early in the evening then becoming partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 40s in the suburbs...but in the upper 40s downtown. North winds 10 to 15 mph.
- Monday: Mostly sunny. Highs in the mid 50s. North winds 5 to 10 mph.
- Monday Night: Clear in the evening then becoming partly cloudy. Lows in the upper 30s in the suburbs...but in the mid 40s downtown. Northeast winds around 5 mph.
- Tuesday: Mostly cloudy. Highs in the mid 50s. East winds 5 to 10 mph.
- Tuesday Night: Cloudy. Chance of showers in the evening...then showers likely and a chance of thunderstorms after midnight. Lows in the mid 40s. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation 60 percent.
- Wednesday: Cloudy. Chance of showers and thunderstorms in the morning...then showers and a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 50s. Chance of precipitation 80 percent.
- Wednesday Night: Cloudy. Showers likely and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the evening...then a chance of showers after midnight. Lows in the mid 40s. Chance of precipitation 70 percent.
- Thursday: Partly sunny. Highs in the mid 50s.
- Thursday Night And Friday: Partly cloudy. Lows in the mid 40s. Highs in the upper 50s.
- Friday Night: Mostly cloudy with a 40 percent chance of showers. Lows in the upper 40s.
