1) Where to securely return your 2022 general election mail-in ballot in Chicago, suburbs. During the 2020 general election—at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic—there were record-setting requests for mail-in ballots, leading Gov. J.B. Pritzker to sign a bill last year to make them permanent fixtures in state elections. There are several options for returning mail-in ballots for the Nov. 8 election. Find the one closest to you in your jurisdiction.

2) Chicago has 3 of the 'Best Gay Bars in U.S.,' Esquire says. Chicago has received recognition for having three of the best gay bars in the country. "Esquire" released a list of the "32 Best Gay Bars in America," which included Andersonville's Big Chicks, Andersonville's Farragut's and Uptown's Carol's Pub. Magazine staff said every establishment on the list is "where we can feel at home whether we know a soul or not."

3) Cubs reduce season ticket prices 5.1 percent for 2023. The Cubs sold 2,616,780 home game tickets during the 2022 season, the lowest paid attendance in a non-pandemic impacted season since 1997. The team announced yesterday they are lowering season-ticket prices by an average of 5.1 percent. All full-season ticket holders will see ticket prices lower by 2.67 percent to 6.72 percent. The largest price cuts are for seats in the bleachers, terrace and upper level. The Cubs finished third this season in the NL Central and still managed to draw the ninth-highest paid attendance in MLB.

4) "House of the Exquisite Corpse" returns with new installations for Halloween. Created by Rough House Theater, "House of the Exquisite Corpse—A Haunted Puppet Anthology" at Chopin Theater in Wicker Park combines the horrors of home with the frailties of corporeal existence. Each of the seven rooms is a peep show, where audience members voyeur into a world of puppeteers, physical theater artists and designers to create an immersive haunted house beyond expectations. Each room offers headsets to audience members which provide music, sound effects, stories, dialogue and layered atmospherics.

5) Police release photos, video of West Ridge liquor store killer, will increase patrols in area. Police are asking for the public's help in finding the man who killed West Ridge store owner Salim Khamo, 66, during an attempted robbery Monday. Khamo was fatally shot just before 10 p.m. at his store, J&K Food and Liquor, 6320 N. Western Ave. A person rode up on a bicycle, walked into the store, demanded money and shot Khamo once in his chest. Khamo was able to return fire but missed the gunman. The shooter ran away without taking anything.
