'Daily Show' Says Chicago's Best Pizza Is In Cook County Jail
"You're telling me that even in jail, they didn't want deep dish pizza?"

CHICAGO, IL -- Trevor Noah came to Chicago to host "The Daily Show" this week, and featured a segment on Thursday that couldn't help but taking the classic New York jab at deep dish pizza. Show correspondent Ronny Chieng claimed deep dish "isn't even human food." Ouch. He did however find a slice of pizza he loved, served at the Cook County Jail.

"This pizza is genuinely awesome. You guys must have people lining up around the block to buy this," Chieng said.
But the pizzas are only delivered to inmates as part of the Recipe for Change program. Chieng interviewed Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart, who said the program's aim is to curb recidivism.

For between $5 and $7 — the money comes out of the detainees' commissary cash accounts — inmates can order different pizzas, ranging from standard margherita or sausage pizzas to more elaborate "four seasons" pizzas that come with soppressata salami, mushrooms, olives and eggs.
Chieng interviewed the founder of the Recipe for Change program, Chef Bruno Abate, who teaches inmates how to make the classic Italian pizza. Abate said the program exists to give inmates hope, self esteem, and dignity.

Best Pizza In The US: Which Chicago Pizzerias Made The Cut?
Trevor Noah hosted an "undesked" version of "The Daily Show" in Chicago this week that featured stand-up comedy alongside news clips.
Noah's "Daily Show" predecessor, Jon Stewart, also took a few jabs at Chicago deep-dish, but acknowledged it was pretty good after Marc Malnati made an appearance on the show in 2013.
