Gold Coast Sounds Good Choir

Chicagoland's largest no-audition choral program for adults "55 and better" has nine choirs throughout Chicago and the suburbs, including the Gold Coast. Conducted by Jonathan Miller, the choir rehearses and performs at the beautiful, historic Fourth Presbyterian Church on Chicago's Magnificent Mile, 126 E. Chestnut Ave. Three sessions a year are offered -- two 15-week sessions in the fall and spring, and one 8-week session in the summer). All sessions include: a weekly 90-minute rehearsal with an additional (optional) online Friday rehearsal; guidance and instruction by professional conductors and accompanists; licensed sheet music; accessible rehearsal and performance venues; and free, public performances by each choir. Registered singers are also free to rehearse and perform with as many of the nine choirs as they wish for just one registration fee per session. Scholarships are readily available -- call the Sounds Good office at 630.395.9542 to apply. Sounds Good Choir also offers the only choir in Illinois for adults with early-stage dementia and their care partners. The Good Memories program is specifically designed to provide a safe, welcoming community in which to sing, socialize, and have fun. Sounds Good Choir is a nonprofit organization with two incredible choral programs. Sounds Good is Chicagoland's largest no-audition choral program for adults 55+. It's fun,&nbsp; good for you (health and well-being benefits are associated with singing in a group), and we're a&nbsp;warm, welcoming community of people who love to sing.&nbsp;Good Memories is the only choir in Illinois for persons with early-stage dementia and their care partners to sing together. The lively, fun, and supportive&nbsp;program is designed especially for those with memory loss. Trained volunteers assist.&nbsp;Both programs are led by professional conductors who are experts in the training of the older adult voice and each&nbsp;session concludes with a free, public concert by each choir.

Divercity: Our Lives are Works of Art produced by Tellin' Tales Theatre shows that disabilities bring out our creativity in whatever we do. When we face hurdles, we find a way to leap over them, not in an inspiration porn way but in a creative way that gives us an edge in everything we do. 
The show runs one weekend only, Friday and Saturday, May 15 and 16 at 7:30pm and Sunday, May 17 at 2pm at Goodman Theatre's Alice Center for Education and Engagement, 170 N. Dearborn.&nbsp; Tickets are $20 (General) and $15 (students and people with disabilities).
Six writers, performers and artists share pithy solo performances based on their personal stories about living with a disability. They were created in a six-week Master Class taught by Tekki Lomnicki, Artistic Director of Tellin’ Tales Theatre.
