Driver Killed After Rear-Ending IDOT Truck On I-55

A car struck an IDOT roadside assistance truck, state police said.

CHICAGO — A man was killed after he rear-ended an IDOT minuteman truck on the Stevenson Expressway Monday, police said. The IDOT truck was assisting a taxi just after 2 a.m. near Pulaski Road, when a car veered off into the right shoulder and rammed into the truck, according to police.

The force of the crash caused the IDOT truck to crash into the taxi.

The man who hit the IDOT truck was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The IDOT minuteman suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

All southbound lanes were blocked off, but have since reopened.
