Emergency Response Surrounds American Airlines Plane At O'Hare

CHICAGO — Emergency crews surrounded an American Airlines plane on the tarmac at O'Hare International Airport Monday afternoon, though authorities had not yet said what prompted the response.

ABC7 Chicago reported that Chopper 7 was over the airport around 3:45 p.m. and showed several fire trucks and police vehicles surrounding the aircraft. Buses were also positioned nearby, and an emergency slide appeared to have been deployed.

It was not immediately clear whether anyone was injured or what occurred aboard the plane.

ABC7 reported that airport delays were less than 15 minutes at the time of the emergency response.

Recent Aircraft Incidents At O'Hare

Monday's emergency response comes just days after another aircraft incident at O'Hare.

Patch reported Thursday that a United Airlines flight bound for Phoenix aborted its takeoff after sustaining tire damage.

United Flight 455, a Boeing 737-900, ended its takeoff roll after the tire issue, and passengers later deplaned on a taxiway. No injuries were reported.

Earlier this year, an American Airlines flight from Miami landed safely at O'Hare with two flat tires. American Flight 791, a Boeing 737, landed May 12 after crew members reported a flat main landing-gear tire. Passengers were later bused to the terminal, according to the FAA.

American operates roughly 500 daily departures from O'Hare during peak periods, making Chicago one of the airline's largest hubs.

Monday's American Airlines response appears to be unrelated.
