Girl Scout Golden Award Project at McDonald’s

Girl Scout Elizabeth Claybaker organizes a fundraiser at Milwaukee Ave. McDonald's to raise money for items for Ronald McDonald House

Chicago | Elizabeth Claybaker, junior at Resurrection High school in Norwood Park, and her Girl Scout troop get an A-plus on their fundraising efforts to support Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Over fifteen girls from Troop 21822 volunteered behind the counter on Wednesday, April 10th at the Chicago McDonald’s located on Milwaukee Ave., where they served families in a fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Girl Scouts Burns, Colletti and Gillespie wore the apple pie costume and sold pies throughout the restaurant. The proceeds from the sales of 163 pies went directly to benefit families at Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Gianna Funkhouser volunteers on the first Thursday of every month at the local Ronald McDonald House and knows how much it will mean to the families to have games and crafts donated by Troop 21822.

Gianna Funkhouser, Owner-Operator of the Chicago McDonald’s, was delighted to participate in the worthy cause for the kids that stay at the Ronald McDonald House.

“We are proud to serve the families of the Community,” said Funkhouser. “In addition to helping provide financial support for Ronald McDonald House, we help these girls feel connected to their community and commitment to fundraise and help other kids.”

Funkhouser donated a case of apple pies to the troop for sale at the event. Claybaker handed out brochures she made on how families can help the Ronald McDonald House. Claybaker also handed out coloring sheets to kids and had some fun music at the event.
