Glenview Water Billing Change Take Effect
A new billing plan that increases the fixed share of water bills starts Jan. 1.

GLENVIEW, IL — A new way of billing for water is set to take effect on Monday. A new fee structure will gradually decrease the proportion of water bills that depend on how much water you use, while increasing the fixed rate fees, which are based on the size of the meter. Fixed rates will eventually increase to 15 percent of the total bill.
Wilmette increased its purchase price by 4.5 percent for 2018, which accounts for 29 percent of Glenview's water fund expenses, according the village.
Officials said the cost of maintaining the system and distributing water stays the same, regardless of how much water people use.

The village also said it plans to carry about more than $5 million in water and sewer infrastructure maintenance and improvements during 2018.
Starting Jan. 1, consumption rates rise by about 5 percent, from $6.47 to $6.80 for water, and about 1 percent, from $1.35 to $1.37 for sewer.

Fixed fees are assessed quarterly and depend on your meter size.
After this year, the rate of growth to fees based on consumption will decline, according to the village's projections.
