High School Student's 1993 Yearbook Prediction: Cubs Win World Series in 2016
UPDATED: A Chicago man gazed into his crystal (base)ball as a California high school senior and made the prediction. But will it come true?

CHICAGO, IL — Last year, the Cubs were destined for World Series glory because of a prediction made in "Back to the Future Part 2." This year, could a student's senior quote in a California high school yearbook be the reason the North Siders win it all?
On Monday, The Heckler published a Twitter post of a senior class photo from the 1993 yearbook for Mission Viejo High School in California. In it, student Michael Lee makes the following bold prediction: "Chicago Cubs. 2016 World Champions. You heard it here first."
By Tuesday morning, the photo had popped up on Reddit and other social media platforms, thanks to Lee's other classmates at Mission Viejo.

Marcos Meza, the person who sent the photo to The Heckler, told WGN News that he had reconnected with Lee in 2009 through Facebook and that his former classmate had posted the 1993 yearbook prediction in early August. After the Cubs knocked the Los Angeles Dodgers out of the playoffs, Meza said he submitted the yearbook picture to the Chicago-based sports news site so Lee's prediction could "go viral," according to WGN.
Although Lee went to high school in California, he was born in Hinsdale and currently lives in Chicago, WGN reports.

Naturally, people have questioned the authenticity of the photo. But different classmates have posted multiple photos of the yearbook, and Meza provided video proof for WGN.
"Way to call it, Mike. Way to call it. You heard it here second. Mike Lee called it out first," Meza says in the video.
On Reddit, various users speculated on how Lee came up with his prediction:
"In the future, the population is so high and schools too full that some students are sent to the past via time machine to get their education."
One user made a prediction on how Lee might react to his brush with being internet famous:
"Here's my prediction: by the end of this week, Michael Lee will be sick and tired of being asked, 'What made you choose the year 2016?' "
But some commenters thought the prediction might be jumping the gun since the first pitch of Game 1 of the World Series hasn't even been thrown yet (the series starts at 7:08 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25):
"The Cubs haven't won yet
"If the Cubs lose, their fans will blame Michael Lee first for 'jinxing' it"
"The new Bartman"
The big question for Patch readers: If Michael Lee is right, what about this Cleveland fan's 2012 prediction for World Series success for his Indians in 2016?
