Hot Temps, Chance of Thunderstorms for Start of the Work Week

The Chicago area could get hit by thunderstorms on Monday, Tuesday night and on Wednesday.

There is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms on Monday and another chance for thunderstorms after midnight on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. And then again on Wednesday there will be a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms during the day and a 40 percent chance of storms at night.

Monday is expected to be a hot one with highs in the lower 90s while cooling to the mid-60s at night. On Tuesday, mostly sunny skies and milder temps in the lower 80s are in the forecast. On Wednesday, temperatures will again be in the lower 80s inland but only in the lower 70s by Lake Michigan.

Here is a detailed look at the weather forecast for the week.

• Monday: Mostly clear in the evening then becoming partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 70s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph.
• Monday night: Partly cloudy in the evening then clearing. Lows in the mid 60s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph.
• Tuesday: Mostly sunny. Highs in the lower 80s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph.
• Tuesday night: Mostly clear in the evening...then partly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after midnight. Lows in the lower 60s.
• Wednesday: Partly sunny with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the lower 80s inland...but only in the lower 70s near the lake.
• Wednesday night: Partly cloudy with a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Lows in the mid 60s.
• Thursday and Thursday night: Partly cloudy. Highs in the upper 70s inland...but only in the lower 70s near the lake. Lows in the lower 60s.
• Friday through Saturday: Mostly clear. Highs in the lower 80s inland...but only in the lower 70s near the lake. Lows in the lower 60s.
