JOLIET, IL – More than a week after the Illinois State Attorney General’s Office announced it is investigating widespread complaints of price gouging statewide, the Joliet Police Department announced on Thursday that it, too, is receiving complaints locally about retailers over-pricing cleaning items being used more heavily during the global coronavirus pandemic. The department indicated on its Facebook page Thursday morning that if local residents notice price gouging during shopping trips, they should contact the state attorney general’s office.

A department spokesman said on Thursday that the local complaints center around sanitation products in various stores around Joliet. Those complaints have been handed over to the state attorney general’s office, he said.

According to the police department, complaints can be registered at https://illinoisattorneygeneral.gov/ and by clicking on the “Report COVID-19 Price Gouging and Fraud link" or by visiting https://ccformsubmission.ilattorneygeneral.net/
