Justice Dept. Probe of Chicago PD: Full Report of the Federal Investigation

Read the complete findings of the DOJ's investigation of the Chicago Police Department's use of force.

CHICAGO, IL — The findings from a U.S. Department of Justice investigation targeting the Chicago Police Department were announced Friday, and the probe found that the department has engaged in an unconstitutional "pattern or practice of using force, including deadly force," according to the report.

Because of those violations, the city and the federal government have agreed in principle "to work together, with community input, to create a federal court-enforceable consent decree addressing the deficiencies found during the investigation," the report concluded.
