2) CTA president Dorval Carter in hot seat as fed-up commuters want him to resign. Commuters Take Action, a group of riders who started tracking CTA reliability, are calling for the leader to resign amid long-running problems with the transit agency. Carter has been slammed by alderpeople for skipping a budget meeting in Jan. and a council hearing in Sept. to address transit problems and complaints. The CTA has been under intense scrutiny for its long wait times, security issues, deteriorating conditions and "ghost" buses and trains that show up late or don't at all.

3) Coach houses, basement apartments would be OK citywide under housing proposal. Additional dwelling units, or ADUs, such as coach houses or in-law apartments, are limited to five areas of Chicago after having been banned since 1957. But ADUs could go citywide under a new ordinance that has the support of 15 alderpersons. Ald. Andre Vasquez Jr (40th), a lead sponsor, said the city's trial run with additional ADUs has diversified the city's housing stock while introducing more affordable units. It's uncertain if the proposal will get a vote before the municipal election next year.

4) Chicago Macy's to unveil holiday window displays, Walnut Room Great Tree. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Macy's on State Street. Designers are preparing the department store for the unveiling of its annual holiday window displays and decorated Great Tree. The 45-ft. tree will be accessible to diners at the Walnut Room only. Reservations for the upcoming season are almost full, with the weekends completely booked. The department store will officially kick off the season with a ceremony at 11:15 a.m. Saturday.

5) Chicago Bears hosted first girls flag football championship in Illinois, now officials want to make game IHSA-sanctioned sport by 2024. What started with 22 teams in Chicago Public Schools as the Chicago Public League Girls Flag Football in 2021 has grown to 66 CPS teams and 78 teams statewide. The Chicago Bears are putting money, resources and sweat equity behind the girls' flag football programming. "It is the goal of the Chicago Bears organization to continue to grow the sport of football by making it accessible, making it inclusive, and by making it equitable—girls flag football fits all three of those," Gustavo Silva, Bears manager of youth football and community programs, said.
