Man Shoots Himself After Going Into Office With a Gun, Asking for Ex: Police

The 37-year-old man's body was found by police Thursday morning in a nearby alley on the Near West Side.

CHICAGO, IL — A 37-year-old man shot and killed himself in a Near West Side alley Thursday after he stormed into a dentist's office with a gun, asking for his ex-girlfriend, according to reports.

The man walked into the Skyline Smiles office in the 1000 block of West Madison Street at about 11 a.m., the Chicago Sun-Times reports. He was carrying a rifle and waving it around as he tried to find his former girlfriend, the report added.

Eventually, the man left the office and went into a nearby alley and reportedly shot himself with the rifle, the Sun-Times reports. Police found the man's body after responding to a call concerning gunshots, according to the Chicago Tribune.
