Man Tried To Kidnap 9-Year-Old In Broad Daylight On City Street: Chicago Police
The girl was walking with an adult when a man grabbed her and ran, police said.
CHICAGO, IL — A man attempted to kidnap a 9-year-old Wednesday on the North Side, according to police.
The girl was walking with an adult about 10 a.m. in the 6600 block of North Damen Avenue in West Ridge when a man grabbed the child and started running, police said. The victim was able to escape nearby in the area of the 6600 block of North Ridge Boulevard, but the man fled south on Ridge, according to police.
The girl was not hurt, police said, adding no one was in custody as of just after noon. The kidnapper was described as a Black man with short dreadlocks and glasses who stood between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10 and weighed 150-170 pounds, according to police. The man was wearing a white shirt, gray pants, white gym shoes and a camouflage baseball hat, police said.
