Metropolis Comics Brings Second City Collection to C2E2
Amazing comic books at the C2E2 Show April 6-8th at McCormick Place

Leading Comic Book authority Vincent Zurzolo will be displaying The Second City Collection, an amazing locally owned comic book collection, at the upcoming C2E2 Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo at McCormick Place, April 6-8th., Booth 1018.
Zurzolo is co-owner of Metropolis Collectibles and www.ComicConnect.com, the world’s largest vintage comic book dealership and auction house. The company holds five Guinness World Records for the most expensive comics bought and sold.
The Second City Collection is an impressive assortment of rare comics, important key appearances, and exciting memorabilia assembled by a deceased Chicago area comics fan who turned an obsession into something special. “This collection is like a love letter to pop culture and it really shows the dedicated personality of its owner,” says Zurzolo.

Amassed by this true fan over the course of decades, The Second City Collection shows the breadth and dedication of his varied yet passionate interests. The owner was detail-obsessed and a voracious reader, traveler, and philanthropist. “I helped put a lot of his collection together, and got to know him pretty well,” says Zurzolo. “He was a remarkable guy, very shy, but so open to new experiences and ideas, and when he fell in love with something, boy, did he go all the way.”
Determined to build a world-class private library of comics treasures, he eventually obtained a collector’s dream lineup of major keys and first appearances. “The Action Comics #1 CGC 8.5 with bright white pages is a real treasure, and in fact, until we sold the Nicolas Cage 9.0 copy for over $2 million, this 8.5 unrestored CGC copy was the most expensive comic sold to that point,” Zurzolo notes.

The record-breaking copy of the first appearance of Superman takes a place of pride alongside a restored 8.5 CGC Detective Comics #27, the first appearance of Batman; a 7.5 Amazing Fantasy #15, featuring the debut of Spider-Man; and an unrestored 7.5 Captain America Comics #1, with the premiere appearance of what may have been this comic fan’s favorite hero.
Zurzolo will appear on the WGN TV morning news on Thursday, April 5th.
