Minnesota Man Shot By Amtrak Cop Near Union Station Dies

The family of Chad Robertson is now considering filing a wrongful death lawsuit.

CHICAGO, IL — A Minnesota man shot by an Amtrak police officer near Union Station last week died Wednesday, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

A bullet had lodged into the spine of Chad Robertson, 25, of Minneapolis, who was shot Feb. 8 during a Megabus layover in Chicago as he returned home from a wedding in Memphis. According to Dennis Hopson, Robertson's attorney, Robertson was running away from officers after they had confronted him and two other people near Union Station.

Authorities claim that Amtrak police were investigating a robbery and that drugs and cash were found on Robertson, a father of two with no criminal record. While Hopson admits Robertson had "an insignificant amount" of marijuana, he disputes the claim of a robbery.
