No Mumps Case At South Middle School: District 25
Test results for a South Middle School student were negative for the contagious disease, district officials said Tuesday.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Test results from the Arlington Heights middle school student believed to have a possible case of the mumps were negative for the contagious disease, according to Arlington Heights School District 25 officials.
District Superintendent Lori Bein alerted families Friday, March 3, that a student at South Middle School, 400 S. Highland Ave., possibly had contracted mumps, but the case had not been confirmed. Officials learned Tuesday, March 7, that the student didn't have the mumps and alerted district and school staff and parents immediately.
"We have been informed by the Cook County Department of Public Health that the test results came back negative for the possible case of mumps at South Middle School," the district said in a statement released Tuesday. "It cannot be said enough that the safety and health of our students, staff and our community who utilize our buildings is our top priority."
