President Trump On Crime: 'What The Hell Is Going On In Chicago'
In an FBI Academy graduation ceremony Friday, President Donald Trump claimed a person is shot in Chicago every three hours.

CHICAGO, IL — President Trump has again declared his outrage over violence in Chicago, this time while speaking at a graduation ceremony at the FBI National Academy. During his speech, the president claimed that one person is shot, on average, every three hours in Chicago. Trump has singled out Chicago throughout his campaign and during his presidency.
"You look at what's going on in Chicago. What the hell is going on in Chicago? What the hell is happening there?" Trump told the crowd in Quantico, Va. "For the second year in a row, a person was shot in Chicago every three hours. You don't think these people in this room can stop that? They'd stop that."
According to data tracked by the Chicago Tribune, there have been 3,456 shooting victims in the city so far this year. That would mean someone has been shot about every two and a half hours—unfortunately more frequently than Trump's claim.

The Chicago Police Department records homicides differently, excluding those on expressways or homicides that are 'not considered justifiable.' The CPD has recorded 2,702 shootings so far in 2017. For a shooting to occur every three hours, there would have to be 2,920 shootings.
