CHICAGO — Singer R. Kelly was released from the Cook County Jail Saturday after paying more than $161,000 he owed in back child support, officials said. Kelly was ordered to pay the amount to his ex-wife by the time a family court hearing was held Wednesday in Daley Center; however he failed to settle the balance and was taken into custody.

It was not immediately clear who arranged for the payment; however Kelly's lawyer Steven Greenberg said the person who paid it wanted to remain anonymous, according to the New York Times.

Kelly was previously paying $20,000 a month, but had fallen behind.

Kelly gave his first interview on "CBS This Morning" since being charged last month with sexually abusing a woman and three underage girls between 1998 and 2010.

Kelly has pleaded not guilty to 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse. Each count carries a possible sentence of three to seven years in prison if he's convicted.

"All of them are lying," he said in a segment of the interview broadcast Wednesday. "I have been assassinated."

Kelly has continued to deny doing anything against a person's will, and maintains that social media is to blame for the accusations.

For decades, the singer has been accused of sexually abusing young girls. In 2008, the singer was acquitted of child pornography charges.

After the docuseries "Surviving R. Kelly" came out in January, County State's Attorney Kim Foxx called on any women with allegations against Kelly to come forward.
