Shani Davis Speedskating Schedule, Results: 2018 Olympics
Speedskater Shani Davis, a legend of long track, finished 7th in the 1000m and 19th in the 1500m at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.

Shani Davis begins his fifth Olympic journey in two speedskating events next week at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. The Chicagoan has four Olympic medals to his name, including back to back golds. Davis is expected to compete in the 1,500-meter and 1,000-meter events starting on Tuesday.
Davis, 35, is the world record holder at two distances, a 10-time world champion and the all-time leader in world cup points. He moved from the South Side to the Rogers Park neighborhood to be nearer to the Evanston Speedskating Club, where he started training at age 6. He later moved to Lake Placid, New York at age 16 and Marquette, Michigan a year later.
Davis qualified for his first Olympics in 2002 on the short track team. He became the first black athlete to win an individual gold medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy. Davis earned his second gold in the 1,000-meter in Vancouver in 2010, becoming the first man to ever repeat at the event. He finished 11th at the 2014 Olympics and at last year's world championship in 1,500 meters. In 1,000 meters he finished fifth at the world championship and eighth in Sochi, Russia four years ago.

The 1,500-meter event took place on Tuesday, while the 1,000-meter race begins at 5 a.m. Central Time on Feb. 23.
- Results from 1,500-meter Men's Speedskating: Davis finished 19th, with a time of 1:46.74, which was 2.73 seconds off the pace of Dutch winner, Kjeld Nuis. The top U.S. finisher was Joe Mantia in 8th. Brian Hansen, of Glenview, finished in 15th.
- Resultsfrom 1,000-meter Men's Speedskating: Davis finished 7th, with a time of 1:08.78, which was 0.83 seconds off Nuis' pace. Mantia finished 4th.
