Showers, Storms and Hot Temps: Weekend Weather

Temps continue to reach into the 80s this weekend. Highs in the 60s are in the forecast for Monday for the Chicago area.

CHICAGO, IL - It’s officially fall but it sure hasn't felt like it.

Temperatures have been in the 80s all week and it will be much of the same on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday will also be the perfect day to get outdoors as sunshine and clear skies are in the forecast. Temps could reach into the upper-80s for portions of the Chicago area but those along Lake Michigan could only see highs in the lower-70s.

The rest of the weekend could be wet and stormy and temperatures are expected to be cooler on Friday with highs reaching into the mid-70s. Friday could also see a good deal of cloud cover and some scattered showers through mid-day mainly north of I-80, according to the National Service.

There is also a chance for showers and thunderstorms on Sunday as a low pressure system tracks across the upper Midwest. Highs will be in the lower-80s.

Temperatures will drop off on Monday with highs only expected to reach into the upper 60s.

Here is detailed look for the forecast for the coming days:

  • Friday: Cloudy. Highs in the mid 70s. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph.
  • Tonight: Cloudy. Lows in the mid 60s. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph.
  • Saturday: Mostly cloudy. Highs in the upper 70s. East winds 10 to 15 mph.
  • Saturday Night: Partly cloudy. Lows in the mid 60s. Southeast winds 5 to 10 mph.
  • Sunday: Mostly cloudy with chance of showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms. Highs in the lower 80s. South winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation 30 percent.
  • Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy with chance of showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms. Lows in the lower 60s. Chance of precipitation 40 percent.
  • Monday: Partly sunny. A 20 percent chance of showers in the morning. Highs in the upper 60s.
