Thunderstorms and Warmer Temperatures Expected This Week
A look ahead at this week's weather for the Chicago area.

Temperatures are expected to warm this week but there is also a chance of showers and thunderstorms starting on Wednesday and continuing through Friday.
On Monday morning, commuters could face some areas of fog. But the rest of the day should be dry and temps are expected to reach into the upper 60s. On Tuesday, those temps should be back in the 70s and temps in the upper 70s are in the forecast for Wednesday and Thursday but could dip back into the 60s for Friday and the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
There is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday and Thursday and also a chance for showers on Friday.

Here is a more detailed look at the forecast for the week ahead:
- Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy. Isolated showers late in the afternoon. Patchy fog after midnight. Lows in the mid 50s. North winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation 20 percent.
- Monday: Mostly cloudy. Areas of fog in the morning. Highs in the upper 60s. North winds around 5 mph in the morning shifting to the east in the afternoon.
- Monday Night: Partly cloudy. Lows in the upper 50s. Southeast winds 5 to 10 mph.
- Tuesday: Partly sunny. Highs in the lower 70s. Southeast winds 5 to 10 mph.
- Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 60s. Southeast winds 5 to 10 mph.
- Wednesday: Partly sunny with chance of showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms. Highs in the upper 70s. Chance of precipitation 40 percent.
- Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy with chance of showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms. Lows in the lower 60s. Chance of precipitation 40 percent.
- Thursday: Mostly cloudy with a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the upper 70s.
- Thursday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Lows around 60. Chance of precipitation 60 percent.
- Friday: Partly sunny with a 40 percent chance of showers. Highs in the upper 60s.
