Unseasonably Warm Temps in Forecast this Halloween Weekend for Chicago Area

Warmer temperatures are in the forecast for this Halloween weekend.

Breezy south winds will bring unseasonably mild temperatures back to the region on Friday, according to the National Weather Service. Afternoon highs will range from the upper 60s across most of northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana to the lower 70s across central and north central Illinois.

Gusty south winds will continue Friday night, according to the National Weather Service, with temperatures holding in the lower 60s in many areas overnight.

On Saturday, temps are expected to reach into the 70s for most of the area before a cold front sags into the area from the north in the afternoon. Cooler air will push in Saturday night, with showers developing from the north during the late evening and overnight hours.

Showers will move out early Sunday. Dry conditions and more seasonably cooler temperatures are expected on Sunday.

And as many kids head out for trick-or-treating on Monday, temps again will be unseasonably warm. Partly sunny skies and a high around 70 is expected Monday and lows in the upper 50s are in the forecast for Monday night.

• Tonight: Partly cloudy. Breezy. Unseasonably warm. Temperatures nearly steady in the lower 60s. Southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.
• Saturday: Mostly cloudy. Unseasonably warm. Highs in the lower 70s. West winds 10 to 20 mph.
• Saturday Night: Cloudy. Chance of showers in the evening...then showers likely and a slight chance of thunderstorms after midnight. Lows in the lower 50s. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation 60 percent.
• Sunday: Partly sunny. A 20 percent chance of showers in the morning. Highs in the upper 50s. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph.
• Sunday Night: Partly cloudy. Lows in the upper 40s.
• Monday: Partly sunny. Highs around 70.
• Monday Night: Partly cloudy. Lows in the upper 50s.
