Westfield Residents Invited To Submit Videos For Costume Contest

Prizes will be award in 12 categories as part of the Downtown Westfield Corporation's annual costume contest, which is being held virtually.

WESTFIELD, NJ — From princesses and superheroes to monsters and cuddly kittens, Halloween costumes can run the gamut of creativity and originality. Now, Downtown Westfield Corporation officials want to see what local residents are bringing to the candy-filled table as part of a virtual costume contest.

Costumes will cover 12 categories and winners will be chosen from video submissions as judged by the Downtown Westfield Corporation. Because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, this year’s contest will be held virtually and families with children 14 or under are invited to submit a 30-second video of their child or family in all of their Halloween glory. Families with multiple children may submit more than one video.

Costumes will be judged in the following categories:

  • Best SuperHero Costume
  • Best Princess Costume
  • Best Addams Family Character Costume
  • Scariest Costume
  • Funniest Costume
  • Best Athletic Costume
  • Best Pet Costume
  • Most Creative Costume
  • Most Unique Costume
  • Best Baby Costume
  • Best Homemade Costume

Judges will choose the top two semifinalists in each category and the those two participants will be contacted to participate in a Zoom event from 1-2 p.m. on Oct. 31. Winners will be selected from each category and the top two finishers will receive a medal and a gift card to a downtown Westfield business.

Video submissions can be sent to halloween@westfieldtoday.com between now and October 27th. Only the first 200 submissions will be accepted and must include in the submission email: Adult’s name, mailing address, email, phone number and first name of the child.
