Waves, Flooding Cause Lake, South Shore Drive Closings: Report
Cook and Lake counties in Illinois are under a lakeshore flood warning until 6 a.m. Sunday.

CHICAGO, IL — Strong winds are causing waves as high as 23 feet at times to pound Chicago's lakeshore, prompting path and lane closures along Lake Shore and South Shore drives. According to reports, officials this afternoon shut down the bike path on the North Side in addition to vehicular traffic lanes along a portion of South Shore Drive.
As of early this afternoon, the northbound bike path remained closed between Ohio Street and Fullerton Avenue, the Chicago Tribune reported. As of 2:45 p.m., South Shore Drive was closed from 67th to 71st streets because of high water.
