Animal Cruelty Charges Levied Against Chicago Heights Man
Authorities in Northwest Indiana say that nearly 40 dogs were found standing in urine and feces at a business owned by Larry Brodanex.

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL -- A Chicago Heights man faces animal cruelty charges after authorities found nearly 40 dogs in poor condition inside a Northwest Indiana building. Larry E. Brodanex, 36, was charged with seven counts of torturing or mutilating a vertebrate animal and 11 counts of cruelty to an animal in connection to the condition of the animals found in a building he rents in St. John, according to a report from The Post-Tribune of Northwest Indiana.
Court documents indicate Brodanex is the sole owner of Trauma Training Experience in St. John, where investigators found the dogs on Sept. 12 and described them as "horribly thin" and "sickly." They were found standing in urine and feces, an affidavit against Brodanex states.
Brodanex has filed a lawsuit against the town of St. John for allegedly violating his constitutional protections from unreasonable search and seizure in connection with the search of his business. He said all of the dogs were healthy.
