Marian off to Hot Start
The Marian Catholic baseball team is off to a hot start. After winning just eight games last season, the Spartans already have posted five wins (5-1 overall) in six games, including a 5-3 victory over Bradley-Bourbonnais.
The Spartans scored all of their runs in the first inning against Bradley, highlighted by a Brett Lilek RBI double. In the Spartans' 8-7 comeback victory over Crete-Monee earlier in the week, Jeff Leppellere cracked a two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning and finished with three RBIs. Mitch Weissenhofer tossed two innings of scoreless relief to pick up the victory.
