Lyric Opera Preview Coming to GSU Center for Performing Arts
Lyric Opera Preview comes to Governors State University Center for Performing Arts on Sunday, September 30.

For the third consecutive year, Governors State University
Center for Performing Arts will begin its popular Opera Up Close series with a
celebrated quartet of singers from the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
The Lyric Opera Preview returns to the Center for Performing
Arts stage for one performance only on Sept. 30 at 4 p.m.
Four singers — soprano Rose Guccione, mezzo-soprano Janet
Mensen Reynolds, tenor Ken Donovan and baritone Keven Keys — will perform
highlights from the Lyric Opera’s 2012-13 season.
Selections will include arias and ensembles from “Elektra”
by Richard Strauss, “Simon Boccanegra” by Giuseppe Verdi, “Werther” by Jules
Massenet, “Don Pasquale” by Gaetano Donizetti, “Hansel and Gretel” by Engelbert
Humperdink, “Rigoletto” by Verdi, and “La Boheme” by Giacomo Puccini.

Host and narrator John Concepcion again will provide insight
into each opera and its highlights, taking the audience on a musical journey
across the world and through the ages.
“Opera Up Close offers a unique musical experience for
audience members,” officials said. “Instead of experiencing the music from the
perspective of the auditorium, patrons at Opera Up Close are seated onstage for
an unforgettable vantage point as superb artists perform some of the world’s
most beautiful music.”

Refreshments including Viennese-style desserts also are available
during the show.
The box office is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Saturdays and two
hours prior to performances.
Multibuy/Megabuy packages are available at the Center for
Performing Arts at Governors State University. Patrons can choose any three or four shows and receive the Multibuyer discount or choose any five or more shows and receive the Megabuy discount.In addition to savings, package holders receive
ticket-exchange privileges with 72-hour notice or more, priority seating and
more. Packages are available for purchase through the box office
only and are not currently available online.
With the Center for Performing Arts in its 18th season,
audiences will experience music, dance, theater, family fare, opera and
children’s programming.
