Right Relationships

No one undertakes a journey alone. We depend upon others constantly - in ways both tangible and intangible - to move us toward our destination.

The more I live life, the more I place value on right relationships. No one undertakes a journey alone. We depend upon others constantly - in ways both tangible and intangible - to move us toward our destination. We were not built to be independent but instead interdependent. Right relationships help us reach our fullest potential. WE NEED ONE ANOTHER. When we really understand this, we will place a high priority on building right relationships. Building is done one brick at a time, and time is exactly what it takes. What bricks are you laying in such a BUSY world to develop the right relationships in your life?

Self-centeredness is a stumbling block to building relationships. People who are not self-centered are that way on purpose; it’s human nature to think of our own interests first. One way to overcome our natural self-centeredness is to try to see things from other people’s perspective. Author Art Mortell shares this experience:

"Whenever I’m losing at chess, I consistently get up and stand behind my opponent and see the board from his side. Then I discover the stupid moves I’ve made because I can see it from his viewpoint.”
