Chicago Heights Cops Sued Over Police Chase That Injured Motorcyclist
Multiple police officers are accused of not using sirens during a pursuit of a car theft suspect in the south suburbs last year.

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL -- More than a dozen Chicago Heights police officers have been named in a lawsuit filed in connection with a police chase last year that resulted in serious injuries for a man from Flossmoor. A law firm represented Ian and Leslie Bobb in filing a complaint with the Cook County Circuit Court last week. It listed the 13 Chicago Heights police officers involved in the chase as defendants but none of the officers from Homewood and Glenwood who assisted, according to a report from the Homewood-Flossmoor Chronicle.
The chase began on Halsted Street in Chicago Heights on Aug. 19, 2016 when police began pursuing a 2007 Ford Crown Victoria that was reportedly stolen by someone with a gun. The chase continued through Chicago Heights, Glenwood and Homewood, where it ended when the Crown Victoria came to a stop on a sidewalk after colliding with a motorcycle operated by Ian Bobb near the intersection of 183rd Street and Gottschalk Avenue.
The lawsuit indicates Bobb was severely injured, was in physical therapy for three months and still walks with a limp. It accuses multiple police units, including those operating the lead unmarked car, of not sounding sirens during the chase.
