Chicago Heights Man Charged With Attempted Murder In Shooting

A 42-year-old Chicago Heights man fired multiple shots June 9, striking a 32-year-old man, Cook County Sheriff Dart said.

COOK COUNTY, IL — A 42-year-old Chicago Heights man has been arrested and charged in a June shooting that injured a 32-year-old man in Ford Heights.

Shawn Taylor, of 500 block of Winchester Road in Chicago Heights, had argued with the victim prior to the shooting, police learned, and shot the man as he was standing outside a car the night of June 9 in Ford Heights, Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced.

The shooting took place in the 1500 block of Embassy Lane. Taylor is accused of firing multiple shots after stepping out of a black sedan. The car the victim was standing by was also struck. A 26-year-old woman inside was grazed by a bullet. Two children in the car were uninjured.

Taylor was taken into custody on Sept. 1. On Sept. 2, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved two counts of attempted murder against him.

Taylor appeared in bond court Saturday at the George N. Leighton Criminal Court Building.
