CRETE, IL — A Crete woman has been charged after allegedly shooting her husband in the chest, the Will County Sheriff's Office said Friday.

On July 28, deputies were dispatched to a home in the 1100 block of East Goodenow Road in Crete for reports of a shooting.

Deputies at the scene found five juveniles, ranging in age from toddler to teenager, at the home. None of them were injured.

Deputies found evidence showing that the shooting took place inside the home, and a gun was recovered at the scene, police said.

According to officials, a preliminary investigation shows the suspect—identified as Capricia Price—left the home with the victim at around 1:26 p.m., and a hospital in Dyer, Indiana, notified the Will County Sheriff's Office that a man with a gunshot wound to the upper chest had just been dropped off by a woman who then left the hospital.

The victim was airlifted to a hospital in Chicago to be treated for his injuries and is expected to recover, the sheriff's office said.

Police said Price arrived back at the home and was detained by deputies and brought to the station to be interviewed.

She was then charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated domestic battery, aggravated battery and unlawful use of a weapon without a valid FOID.

The WCSO contacted DCFS, and two case agents arrived to talk to the children and take them to a nearby hospital as a precaution. The children were then placed in the care of a relative.

Price was arrested and taken to the Adult Detention Facility, where she remains without bond.

She is set to appear in court July 31 at 9 a.m.
