DOLTON, IL -- A firefighter who friends say "loved his job" died while on duty in the south suburbs on Saturday. Dolton firefighter Lawrence Matthews, 36 died from a cardiac arrest he suffered while assisting with putting out a fire in nearby Harvey around 1:30 p.m., according to various media reports. Matthews appeared to have had shortness of breath and began leaning on a fence for support, ABC-7-Chicago reported. He <a href="http://abc7chicago.com/news/dolton-firefighter-36-dies-after-he-collapses-at-harvey-house-fire/2081165/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">collapsed on scene and was taken to Ingalls</a> Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A police and fire procession escorted his body to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
