Extra Points: Moore Makes Sure There's More Ahead for Bloom
Blazing Trojans' junior guard had a big game in the team's Crete-Monee Regional semifinal victory Tuesday night.
According to Bloom coach Jasper Williams, junior guard Donald Moore is the team’s best player, and as Moore goes, so goes the team.
Tuesday night proved that to be true once again as Moore came up with the biggest plays of the night for the Blazing Trojans in
Bloom led the Crete-Monee Regional semifinal game by as many as 13 points in the first half, as the team played with energy and was with smarts. However, Plainfield South outscored Bloom 9-2 in the third quarter as the Blazing Trojans lost their aggressiveness.

Moore, however, came up big in the fourth quarter. Plainfield South cut the Bloom lead to 29-27, but that’s as close as it would get. After Moore made two free throws, he picked up two steals in a row and two more free throws to give the Blazing Trojans some breathing room.
“Coach told me to start attacking the basket and make the refs blow the whistle,” Moore said.

Bloom led 34-27 at that point and never looked back.
“(Moore) was one of the kids that stayed aggressive throughout the whole game,” Williams said. “We are going to go as Donald goes.”
Blazing Trojans sophomore guard Dejahown Freeman also played well Tuesday night, pouring in 11 points off the bench.
“It’s the playoffs; my team doesn’t want to go home,” Freeman said.
Freeman has had his struggles this season, particularly academically, but he stepped up at the right time.
“In the regular season, I wasn’t really playing my game,” Freeman said. “But now it’s the playoffs, so you have to play hard or go home.”
Williams is excited to get Freeman more involved.
“The only thing holding Freeman back now is Freeman,” Williams said.
Crete-Monee Stands in Bloom’s Way … Again: Bloom next faces Crete-Monee in the regional championship on Friday night. Crete-Monee defeated Eisenhower 107-65 on Tuesday, led by forward Greg Mays with 30 points.
