Franciscan Health earns Commission on Cancer accreditation

American College of Surgeons program announces three-year accreditation

The Commission on Cancer (CoC), a quality program of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) announced that it granted Three-Year Accreditation to the cancer program at the Franciscan Health in Olympia Fields.

To earn this voluntary, national accreditation, Franciscan Health was required to meet 34 separate quality care standards, be evaluated every three years through a survey process, and maintain the highest levels of excellence in the delivery of comprehensive patient-centered care.

“The Commission on Cancer accreditation is evidence that Franciscan Health takes a multidisciplinary approach to treating cancer,” said Allan Spooner, President and CEO. “At Franciscan Health, we treat cancer as a complex group of diseases that requires consultation among surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists, diagnostic radiologists, pathologists, and other specialists. We believe that this multidisciplinary approach results in improved patient care.”
