Gimme 5: Rich Central Youngsters Follow Fowler's Lead
Olympians' first-year coach has enough Data already to point to junior shortstop Brittany Fowler as Rich Central's softball leader.
Mina Data is in her first year as the softball coach at Rich Central, but only two games into the season, she knows who her team leader is.
That title goes to junior shorstop Brittany Fowler, who led Rich Central with 42 stolen bases last season.
“(Brittany’s) definitely the player that they look to push them and give them momentum to really succeed,” Data said. “She’s basically the leader out in the field, teaching them and guiding them.”

The tiny speedster, who is looking to play college softball, already has been complimented for her tremendous work ethic and leadership. Through two games this season, Fowler has already recorded two steals and two RBIs.
“She’s always the player who wants to stay extra to work on her batting, her fielding skills,” Data said.

Although Fowler is slated to be Rich Central’s starting shortstop, she possesses the ability to also play catcher and in the outfield. That versatility will be key going forward for Rich Central because of its young squad.
Data is planning to start five underclassmen and said she likely will move Fowler around if needed.
