Girls Golf: Marian Catholic Places Second in Sectional, Advances to Class AA State Tournament
Marian Catholic bunched three golfers in tight pack to nab a second-place finish in the Class AA Marist Sectional on Monday at Oak Oak Country Club. Lincoln-Way West freshman Alexis Biedrzycki shot 76 and was one of five Patch individual qualifiers.
Marian Catholic used the 1-2-3 punch of Sylvie Brick, Nina Nicpon and Bree Veazey to grab a second-place finish in the Class AA Marist Sectional on Monday at Old Oak Country Club.
Brick shot 78, Nicpon 80 and Veazey 81 as Marian advanced to the Class AA state tournament Friday and Saturday at Hickory Point Golf Course in Forsyth. The Spartans finished with a team total of 334.
Hinsdale Central (317) won the sectional championship. Lyons Township also advanced with a third-place score of 347. Lincoln-Way East placed fourth (350), Homewood-Flossmoor fifth (352) and Sandburg eighth (361).

Marian's Samantha Barlage shot 95, Alexandria Palmer 97 and Abby Brunner 122.
Lincoln-Way West freshman Alexis Biedrzycki shot 76 and topped a list of five Patch individual qualifiers. Lincoln-Way East's Kelly Sterling (78), Sandburg's Angela Wojtczak (83), Homewood-Flossmoor's Katelyn Hoag (83) and Lincoln-Way East's Katie Reno (83) also advanced.
