• Settlement talks underway to revoke license of director at South Side funeral home where 56 bodies were found (suntimes.com) — Chicago Heights residents are at the center of a widening investigation into how Illinois oversees funeral homes, after regulators previously found 44 bodies and mishandled remains at a now-closed crematory in the city tied to the same owners. State officials are now pursuing permanent license revocation for the funeral director in a related South Side case and considering stronger statewide inspection and enforcement rules.
