• Park Forest mother seeks answers in July fatal shooting of son in Chicago Heights (chicagotribune.com) — A Park Forest mother is still seeking answers after her son was fatally shot at 22nd Street and Union Avenue in Chicago Heights on July 2, with police saying only that the investigation continues. She plans a prayer vigil at that same intersection on October 2 to honor him and call for justice, and invites community support as the family grieves.
   

• Suburban men charged after Chicago Heights traffic stop (fox32chicago.com) — A late-August traffic stop near West 26th and Aberdeen in Chicago Heights led deputies to two loaded guns and felony weapon charges for two south suburban men. Neither man had the required firearm licenses, and one was already on probation for a prior gun conviction. One suspect was released while the other remains in Cook County Jail awaiting another court date.
