• A single gas station in cities throughout Cook County had the cheapest premium gas in week ending Sept. 19 (southcooknews.com) — If you're filling up in Chicago Heights, premium gas recently ran as low as about $5 to $6 per gallon, according to GasBuddy reports for the week ending Sept. 19. The report shows how local prices compare with other Cook County communities and statewide averages, noting Illinois' premium prices remain well above national levels. It also explains how global oil markets and refinery issues keep pressure on what you pay at the pump.
   

• Chicago police search Glenwood business tied to owners of South Chicago Chapel (suntimes.com) — Families in Chicago Heights should know that state officials previously shut down Heights Crematory in the city after finding mishandled human remains, part of a broader investigation into businesses owned by Clark and Johanna Morgan. Chicago police have now searched another of their operations, Planet Green Cremations in Glenwood, while a judge ordered fresh inspections and restrictions on their South Chicago Chapel funeral home. Regulators say they've pushed for license revocation and possible criminal charges.
   

• Astros' Lucas Spence Makes Absurd Baseball History (heavy.com) — A hometown connection hit the national spotlight as Chicago Heights native Lucas Spence crushed his first three Major League home runs in a single game for the Houston Astros. The 23-year-old, who began at junior college Black Hawk and Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, went undrafted before signing with Houston and rapidly climbing the system. His breakout night instantly put him in rare MLB company.
