Driver Changing Tire Fatally Struck By Car On I-80, Witnesses Sought: Illinois State Police

The person was hit near Torrence Avenue in Lansing early Wednesday, state police said.

LANSING, IL — A pedestrian attempting to change a tire was fatally struck along I-80 early Wednesday morning, Illinois State Police said.

State police were called around 5:30 a.m. to I-80 Westbound at Torrence Avenue for a report of a pedestrian struck. The person was pronounced dead. Their identity has not yet been released.

Two lanes were shut down for several hours, state police said.
