PSC Foundation Hosting Annual Scholarship Classic Golf and Tennis Outing June 2

The Prairie State College (PSC) Foundation is hosting the 21st Annual Scholarship Classic on Monday, June 2, 2014. All proceeds from the event will benefit student scholarships at PSC.

Breaking tradition, participants of this year’s event have the opportunity to choose between a golf outing at Idlewild Country Club in Flossmoor or a tennis clinic and tournament at Olympia Fields County Club in Olympia Fields.

The cost for the golf outing is $200 per golfer, and includes an 11 a.m. grilled lunch in the clubhouse and driving range warm-ups, followed by a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start scramble that includes a cart, contests, and beverages. The scramble will be followed by a 5:30 p.m. cocktail half hour and 6 p.m. buffet dinner and awards presentation.

Golfers may also purchase the Diploma Games package for $50, which includes participation in a hole-in-one contest for $5,000 to the first successful contestant, a two-game scratch card, three mulligans (not on hole 3 or 12), and more.

All participants in the golf outing also have the opportunity to win a hole-in-one contest sponsored by Arnie Bauer Buick Cadillac GM in Matteson. The prize is a 2014 Buick LaCrosse.

The cost for the tennis clinic and tournament is $150 per person, and includes a 10 a.m. cardio clinic with Olympia Fields Country Club pro Wayne Muskievicz, an 11:30 a.m. lunch at Olympia Fields Country Club, a 1 p.m. round robin doubles tournament at Olympia Fields Country Club, and the 6 p.m. buffet dinner and awards presentation at Idlewild Country Club.

Participants in the cardio clinic also have the option to skip the doubles tournament and join the golf scramble and lunch at Idlewild Country Club. If not available for golf or tennis, guests can pay $60 per person for the dinner and awards presentation at Idlewild Country Club.

Sponsorship opportunities also are available, and will help raise extra scholarship funds. A full list of sponsorship opportunities is online at prairiestate.edu/foundation by visiting Scholarship Events.

“After such a long, terrible winter, this is a great opportunity to get outside in the nice weather and get some exercise, all while helping PSC students achieve their educational goals,” said Deborah Havighorst, executive director of the foundation, who organized the event.
