1 Found Dead In Flossmoor Home That Caught Fire

Firefighters found a deceased man on the lower level of a Collett Lane home that caught fire Wednesday afternoon.

FLOSSMOOR, IL - A man was killed in a Wednesday afternoon fire that engulfed a home on Collett Lane in Flossmoor. Firefighters found the man dead in the lower level of the home around 12:45 p.m., according to a news release from the village of Flossmoor. The man's identity had not been released as of Wednesday night.

Firefighters arrived to find the home in the 2000 block of Collett, about a block off Dixie Highway, "fully involved by fire." Crews from several municipalities, including Homewood, responded. They were able to extinguish the fire. A Homewood firefighter told Patch earlier that their crews were expected back to the station around 3 p.m.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal's office, which is assisted by investigators from both the Flossmoor Police and Fire departments in the investigation.
