Portillo's Employee Threw Hot Oil On Co-Worker: Cops

An 18-year-old Homewood man has been charged with aggravated battery after a dispute at the Portillo's on Halsted, police say.

HOMEWOOD, IL — An employee at Portillo's restaurant in Homewood has been charged after police say he threw hot oil onto another employee during a dispute last week.

Homewood police responded to a battery call at the restaurant, located at 17550 S. Halsted St., at 10:44 p.m. Dec. 27, according to a police report. While there, they arrested Charles Shipp, 18, of the 2000 block of Downey Road in Homewood.

Shipp was charged with aggravated battery. Police said he threw the oil onto the victim during an argument.
