Arrest Made In Homewood Carjacking From May 2019

A 21-year-old Chicago man was arrested on Feb. 3 after a separate incident involving a stolen car, police said.

HOMEWOOD, IL — A suspect in a carjacking reported in Homewood in May of last year has been arrested and charged in connection with the crime. Homewood police arrested Ronald Rodgers, 21, of Chicago on Feb. 3 and charged him with unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle and vehicular hijacking in two separate incidents.

The vehicular hijacking charge stems from a May 27 incident in which police say Rodgers and a person younger than 18 stole a car and other items from two victims in the 18300 block of Ashland Avenue. The juvenile had already been charged with robbery and vehicular hijacking, police said.

Rodgers faces the unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle count on a police accusation that he took someone's car "without the knowledge or consent of the owner" on Jan. 22 in the 18100 block of Riegel Road.
