Harvey Man Shot At Chicago Heights Driver's License Office

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — A Harvey man waiting to take a driving test at the Chicago Heights driver's license facility was shot Monday afternoon. The man, who is 27, was found sitting in the driver's seat of his white Hyundai car in the parking lot when officers arrived, Chicago Heights police said. He was shot above his left hip. The attack was targeted, police said.

David Druker, a spokesman with the Illinois Secretary of State's office, said that the man was waiting to take a driver's test at the facility was shot several times at about 1:30 p.m. The site was closed during the investigation but was later re-opened, he said.

Police said the shooter fled the scene.

Authorities took the man to Franciscan Health Olympia Fields Hospital for treatment, and he is expected to be transferred to John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County in Chicago.

According to police, the man said the shooter was in a dark-colored vehicle.
