Sister of Chicago Heights Mayor Named to School District 170 Board
Elizabeth Nevarez, sister of Chicago Heights Mayor David Gonzalez, was appointed to the board of Chicago Heights School District 170, Sun-Times Media reports.

The newest member of Chicago Heights School District 170's board is the sister of Chicago Heights Mayor David Gonzalez, Sun-Times Media reports.
The board voted May 13 to appoint Nevarez to the board. She replaced Norma Caratachea, who resigned in April, and whose seat is not up for reelection until April 2015, according to the report.
Nevarez attended District 170 schools, followed by Bloom High School, Prairie State College and Governors State University. She has a master’s degree in nursing.

Superintendent Tom Amadio stated he was not aware of Nevarez's relation to Gonzalez until media inquiry on the matter.
